 Easy appetizers for the Holidays    

The holidays are on the way and you need to keep your friends and family out of the kitchen while you cook the meal. How do you do that when everyone gets hungry be the wonderful smells that are coming from the kitchen? You make some appetizers to hold off their hunger but yet keep them hungry enough to enjoy the big meal that follows. Appetizers are fun and easy to make and do not take a lot of time out of your dinner schedule so dinner will still be on time. Depending on what snacks you want to make the kids can even help you out in the kitchen and you can keep your focus on the dinner.

Mini pigs in a blanket are a good thing for the kids to make and do not cost a lot of money to purchase. All you need is a couple rolls of the Pillsbury croissant rolls that you can find in your local grocery store in the refrigerated section, and the cocktail franks that you can find in your meat department. Roll out the croissant dough into little strips, a little narrower the cocktail franks. Roll the dough around the franks and place the finished product on the cookie sheet and now they are ready to bake. Bake the pigs in a blanket for about 15 minutes. After they are done, you can put toothpicks in them and serve them to your family and friends to keep them out of the kitchen while you are finishing up dinner. 

The most popular and the easiest to make is a meat and cheese platter. Get your favorite types of meat such as summer sausage or lunchmeat. Cut the meat into little slices so you can cover at least half of the plate. Next slice the cheese into slices as well and arrange them next to the meat. Add some of your favorite crackers so they can make some finger sandwiches to keep your guests appetites at bay until the dinner is done. When doing this platter, make sure you get a variety of the things you put on the plate so now it will look colorful and everyone will get a flavor that they will like.
